CultureCult invites fiction submissions for publication in its violent fiction anthology “Bloodlet”, to be edited by CultureCult founder/editor Jay Chakravarti. (Expected release: November 2019). The final date of submission is September 02, 2019
Fictions of ALL GENRES shall be considered for publication. Fictions of the following lengths are invited:
Flash Fictions (50-1500 words): Please send no more than THREE per author.
Short Stories (1500-7500 words): Please send no more than TWO per author.
Novelettes (>7500 words): Please send ONE per author, along with a short summary of the novellette.
The theme for this anthology is ‘violent fiction’, which may send a mixed message regarding our intentions with this anthology. Even though we expect stories of cathartic revenge that doesn’t hold itself back in terms of blood and gore, we shall NOT publish:
a) Stories that only serve to glorify violent political regimes.
b) Stories that exploit themes of violence on women/children, without a coherent catharsis.
c) Stories that glorify violence for the sake of violence.
We are accepting TRANSLATED STORIES as well. Submission of translated works must be accompanied by a statement declaring that the translator has obtained the author’s permission and their publisher’s, if required.
Simultaneous Submissions are welcome but the author must inform us by e-mail as soon as the submitted piece is accepted elsewhere. Pieces cannot be withdrawn once CultureCult informs the author of its acceptance for publication.
We consider reprints but generally do not publish them unless they are absolutely exceptional.
At present, we are unable to pay our contributors. However, each contributor shall receive a COMPLIMENTARY DIGITAL COPY of the anthology as soon as it publishes.
Manuscripts should directly be sent to CultureCultMagazine@gmail.com
Please include the phrase “Submission for Bloodlet” in the subject line of the submission e-mail.
Please submit your files in the following formats: .doc /.docx /.txt. DO NOT submit PDFs.
CultureCult uses non exclusive rights to publish in its anthologies and website. Authors are free to republish their work anywhere else once it has been published.
Please submit ONLY original pieces. CultureCult shall not be responsible for any disputes arising out of copyright infringement.
Each piece MUST be attached with a short bio of the author.
NOTE: We typically reply within a month after receiving submissions. However, replies can be delayed indefinitely under unforeseen circumstances.
