Anthology Submissions

We are thrilled to invite writers to contribute to CultureCult’s upcoming anthology, “Creatures of Habit: Short Stories of Quirks and Idiosyncrasies.” This collection aims to showcase the eccentricities and unique habits that define us as individuals.

Open to all genres, the stories should center on characters and their distinctive quirks or idiosyncrasies. Whether it’s a benign obsession with collecting oddities, a ritualistic daily routine, or an eccentric behavior that defines a personality, we want to delve into the nuances that make your characters tick. Unveil the peculiarities that set your characters apart. Whether comical, poignant, or downright bizarre, let their habits unfold within your narrative.

Come up with your own story or feel free to take inspiration from one of our writing prompts below:

– A notorious and compulsive spinner of tall tales becomes the main suspect in a crime he denies committing.

– A reserved librarian with a passion for collecting old letters, finds an unmailed love letter addressed to her, hidden inside a library book.

– In the future, a drug offering temporary immortality wildly amplifies the personal quirks and idiosyncrasies of users.

A compulsive overthinker begins to believe that the people around him are parties to a grave conspiracy. He wonders if he is overthinking again. What if he isn’t?

– A compulsive hoarder discovers a video cassette that unveils the truth about decades-old serial killings.

A dedicated artist on the verge of perfecting a recurring dream-woman’s portrait, is interrupted by an unexpected visitor.
