Submission call for Superstories
PulpCult, an imprint of CultureCult Press, invites submissions of ‘superhero stories’ for publication in its anthology “Superstories” (Expected release: March/April 2023). The final date for submission is February 05, 2023.
Ahoy authors, PulpCult welcomes you to take part in a grand literary experiment with SUPERSTORIES – our upcoming anthology of Superpowered stories!
Superheroes have almost exclusively been the staple of comic books and motion pictures. Can a superhero solely exist in the dimension of the written word too? Why not? We invite authors to roll up your sleeves and create a brand new superhero and craft a superstory around them!
Your superhero could be a manipulator of sound waves, gravity, matter itself or even time. Maybe they have the power to interact with plants, animals or the human memories that lay in our deep subsconscious. Perhaps your superhero can shapeshift at will, or possess the power to create personal dimensions where they can hide away anything from a love letter to a supervillain.
Your plot may be a classic origin story with or without the tragic death of a close one. It could showcase the return of an aged superhero and their final bow during an invasion of the undead! Maybe your superhero saves the city from a natural disaster, or a man-made one, or something nefariously plotted by a scheming supervillain in a nail biting thriller. Perhaps your hero teams up with a gang of fellow superhumans to combat an intergalactic threat in a hardcore sci fi adventure!
There is no shortage of heroes, stories or imagination in the multiverse of possibilities that superheroes have come to symbolise. Have fun picking your own!
PLEASE NOTE that this is an anthology with a THEME. ONLY those fiction pieces that feature a positive and/or heroic portrayal of a superhero, shall be considered for publication.
- Your story and characters must be original and should not bear close resemblance to any existing superhero or superhero story
- Your superhero can be of any race, gender or sexual orientation
