Digest Submissions

CultureCult Press warmly invites writers from all walks of life to send in their fictions, non fictions and poetry for our upcoming digest/anthology, titled “#ATHEISM”.

THE FINAL DATE OF SUBMISSION HAS BEEN EXTENDED TILL FEBRUARY 16, 2026

As humans, we are born into a labyrinth of inherited stories—walls built of commandment and karma, ceilinged with gated heavens and forbidden knowledge. We are told that the light is conditional, that to see clearly we must first bow, that to know is to, somehow, trespass.

CultureCult Magazine Digest #ATHEISM hopes to declare a different path

We seek submissions that explore atheism not as yet another form of doubt, but as the unwavering fact by which we finally see the world as it is. We are interested in work that posits atheism as the fundamental condition for true intellectual and moral courage. It is the basic, primary stance that allows us to access knowledge without the predilection to establish kingdoms of our own or some borrowed deity. No new dogma, no replacement theology, and without being bowed down by the ancient, paralysing illusion that any facet of existence, that any question can be off-limits.

A core theme of this collection may also be said to be liberation from the circular clutches of karmic logic: a system that not only negates the responsibility of the oppressor through cycles of fate and past lives but, perhaps more insidiously, allows the individual to outsource their own accountability to the wheel of cause and effect. At the very least, to a twisted God’s twisted will. We seek work that champions a universe of direct, unmediated responsibility: to ourselves, to each other, to this one, undeniable truth of #Atheism.

In case you’re thinking about writing fiction, feel free to get started with one of our FICTION WRITING PROMPTS:

1) 2017. A man who is accused of conspiring to kill Leon Max Lederman (who named the Higgs boson particle after ‘God’), hires a confident lawyer who was once rescued from a notorious cult.

2) After a religious riot wipes off half of Kolkata, an atheist book editor is forced to hear confessions after posing as a priest seeking food and safety in a Christian refugee camp.

3) A girl raised in an aggressively religious household discovers that silence, not rebellion, is the most dangerous form of disbelief.

4) In a future where atheism is the norm, a lone believer is treated as a charming eccentric, until their incessant proselytizing begins to drive normal people ‘crazy’.

5) A man saves strangers every night, knowing there is no reward, no heaven, and no one watching, until he begins to believe someone has started watching and belief in God is born.

6) In a country mired with dogma, bigotry, as well as virality and hero-worship, an atheist stand-up comedian navigates love, fear and censorship after their religious joke threatens to become a capital crime.

And in case you’re thinking about writing non fiction, here’s some topics we’re looking to read and publish non fiction on. NON FICTION WRITING PROMPTS:

1) Untangling the secular myth. (Why a merely ‘secular’ society is a black hole destined for extreme religious annihilation.)

2) Subversion or assimilation? The contradictory role of atheist-sounding religio-philosophical schools of thought (Buddhism, Charbak school of thought, Religious naturalism etc.)

3) Weak atheist vs Strong atheist. (Implicit vs. explicit atheism and the spectrum between skepticism, agnosticism and disbelief.)

4) The number one enemy: How atheists have been historically considered worse threats to religious orders than believers of other faiths.

5) Science, politics, economy and the rise of public atheism. How the logic of science on one hand, and the no-nonsense, cold pursuit of money and power, has eroded the basis of false, illusory faith.

6) The curse of the -ism: Why atheism must not become a ‘belief’ system. (Examine how any church of atheism betrays its very purpose of breaking down group beliefs and establish natural freedom and autonomy).
